Andrew graduated with a degree in Construction Engineering, before qualifying as a Solicitor, to focus on the legal and commercial issues of development, construction, PFI & PPP projects.
He worked in private practice for six years, in the construction and projects team of Davies Arnold Cooper then Hammond Suddards. Andrew then moved into industry, joining Pochin’s PLC, a listed construction and property development group, where he was Group Counsel and Company Secretary for four years. During this time he specialised in the formation of joint ventures, property and corporate acquisitions, bank funding, the avoidance of disputes and stock exchange compliance.
Andrew joined Urban Splash as Group Legal & Commercial Director in 2005, where his role was focussed on the negotiation of development agreements, bank & grant funding, property acquisitions/disposals and corporate matters, to enhance performance of the business.
Andrew has also worked with Salford & Lancaster Universities, the DTI and other industry partners, to steer initiatives such as the Process Protocol and Knowledge Transfer Partnership, to bring innovative thinking from academia into industry. Andrew is also a fully accredited Mediator with experience of assisting parties to resolve complex multi party disputes.
During his time in practice Andrew was involved in the development of the contractual framework for the first wave of Government PPP initiatives. Since moving into industry Andrew has used this expertise to formulate other innovative models involving both private and public sector funding, leading to delivery of schemes totalling over £250M.
Andrew formed property and corporate investment group 53N, jointly with Stephen Chicken in late 2007, to seek investment, joint venture and funding opportunities.
